tum MICA mat jaiyyo..mat jaiyyo meri jaan....

Starters: (a) MICA= Mudra Institute of Communication and Advertising is located some gazillion kms away from Ahemdabad. it was so far ... i thought they'd ask for a passport to be stamped.
(b) I had the privilege of attending their anuual inter-college fest MICANVAS'06(27/10 - 29/10)

Whteva before Main course:Typical endless bus journey ..nauseating for some...cosy for a couple of couples(paisaaa vasoool maaaaaaan). Life was all fine till i reached Ahemdabad. Got off at Paldi ( i think). It was funny to see green n yellow autos ..as if ...the BuntyNBabli crew forgot to colour them back into normal rickshaw colours!!! and it gets better....the Meter (looks like a clock) is right next to the driver...with a broken glass...big enough for a finger to tamper it.

From Paldi, its around 1 hour in a rick. (TRIVIA TIME: i noticed...only Mumbaikars measure distance with time..for eg: its an hour away..45mins from here etc etc.... i dont ever recollect defining distance in KMS. So spatial measurements have always been a big challenge for me). and VOILA.....MICA's here!!!

Main Course: Trust me...bohot gaali padi MICA ko....to build itself in the middle of nowhere...in a God forsaken place. Here come's the 1st joke....the guard asks us for our college icards... which is mandatory in any college!! But what wud they do if we dint have our icards... SEND US BACK TO EARTH???? dude... i just let my space shuttle go....

We entered the most talked about college's gates.... to find out if all the talk was just gas!! I went, i saw and i died... I religiously took back every word i said against its location.

 It did not look like a management college whatsoever. Maybe, i presumed it to be so.

This college looked more like a theatre==>archaic architecture...with brick walls...1 floor high...weird roofs cuz it managed to keep the Ahd'di weather OUT!!!!

Simple from the outside but hi-tech inside!!





This is the open air theatre where they screen 2-3 movies a week (classics from all genres). They have a movie committee who watch every classic from any country, approve the same and screen them for the rest. Food and drinks are non-stop from their 24hr open Chota Canteen.



This is the BEST PART of MICA...their AUDI!!! it doesnt get any basic than this. Steps with mats laid out and cushions for support.PERIOD

And there is much more. The Director(lovingly called PAT) has a pony tail, always in sports wear with a coffee mug minding his own business.Doesnt follow Autocracy and cooler than most of the students there :)

Completely cut-off from the outside populace, Micans are living in the world of their own. Serene and Self- Sufficing. Apparently...they are not missing much!!!

Desserts: I dont know what keeda is there in me.... I JUST COULDNT WAIT TO COME BACK HOME!!! I guess..im not made for Serenity!!! Calmness creates restlessness in me!!! So rushed back home... back to reality....to my people... to my own world...where the clock is faster than the ceiling fan!!!

Freshners: Im gonna say the unthinkable(anti-ekta kapoor).. MICA to MICA hai...but SASURAL ki baat hi kuch aur hai ...

Shoes MAKETH Man!!

Its OFFICIAL===>I AM A SHOE(all/any FOOTWEAR) FREAK!!!! Preferably uncommon/ peculiar ones.
Infact... Shoes for a lady is as important.. Or maybe more important ...than the couture itself!!!! This is 1 fact all guys should know about the fairer sex!

But Shoes aint a girl's jewel... Its a Unisex commodity. So perfection is expected from both genders!!

And Hence ..my blog for the day==> "Shoes Maketh Man!"

I have a habit of checking out the shoes of a person before I look at the face!!! And after years of following this routine...it has become an integral part of me!!! I don't even have to make a conscious effort to look at the shoes... its almost a congenital action...like any other human reflex's.

By right shoes I don't mean... uselessly expensive Branded ones...but just the right style, colour and Attitude ..which is picked up off the shelf...or off the street.

And why do I do that?? A question I ask myself at times..and I have been asked many times.
And my common answer to both... I DON'T KNOW!!

actually I DO know...
I look at the shoes ...and then what...what does it prove.
Not that im judgmental about people who have the wrong footwear ... but I feel (oooo THE MAIN PART...drum rolls pls)... People who are conscious about something as trivial as Footwear ..are some sort of Perfectionists!! And Perfectionism... I LIKE!

Ladies are particular about how much Toes to be shown..( some have their toes practically outside their shoes)...about how much loud is too much !! The same for Men.. colour, style..and all that jazz!!!! Both know when to wear what and they are well equipped for any occasion!

Such people are particular about the minutest details of any work undertaken or Life in general!!! The FINISHING TOUCHES and NOT the actual work... gives them the high!!! They can never be satisfied with sub-standard or incomplete work...even if it means to work their asses off...to give it the PERFECT finish! The CHALTA HAI factor is a SIN.

And all of this just sums-up to 1 attribute....PASSION!!!! Passion is the thin line between Living and Mere Existence!!!Life without Passion is like Thai food....BLAND ...you can eat it but not relish it!!!! And Only Passion expects Perfection!

Factually ...Passionate people is a rare concept. and that's y I like to look out for them!!
As I said... I don't judge people by their shoes... or shun them away if its not right !!! Its just to give me a headstart ...before I get to know them in depth!!!!

Either i break..or i TAKE A BREAK!!

"I aint a victim of the STRESS-BUG.." is inconceivable!!!! It is a myth that only people with the most busy schedule's or hectic lifestyles buckle under this bug!!! Even the most jolliest, liveliest,laziest has to get stressed by being jolly/lively/lazy all day!!! It HAS to get to u....OR ELSE...Ur a vegetable and you should be in a pot getting cooked!!!

Destressers ...activities which lets u unwind ..is the NEED FOR THE DAY!!! Many people have various styles of unwinding!! Some go for a Sport, for some..Food / Movies / Sleep / Weekend at home with family.. do the trick...
And anybody who is prospicient(LOL... WORDWEB ROCKS!!!get 1 asap...) and has entrepreneurial skills to match his guts... knows how to tap this market!!! Hukka joints / Pool Parlours / Coffee Bars ...have bought all the banya shops around the corner!

For me ( why the hell do u think i keep a blog... its a view of the world from CELINS eyes)...
Synonym for De-stress/De-mindfuckups / De-Fatigue = (a) Drive/Ride (b) Trekking (c) Pub with friends(frequentest)

A and B happen as in when i get a chance or whenever dad fills full tank!!!
But C is very regular...cuz u need no prior planning for it.... a crowd is never required(not possible also...pubs are soo cramped... u wudnt see the 6th person) ...cud last for anything from an hr to 4hrs.... cud be weekdays/weekends .... age no bar (well..just the 21 limit)... no dress code....JUST RELAX with ur drink..."main aur meri tanhai(2-3 large ke baad..he gatecrashes) aksar baatein karte hai"!!!
3 pre-requisites: Tolerate SMOKE if ur a non-smoker, Non- CLAUSTROPHOBIC, MUSIC LOVER(MUST!!!!)

a few of my favourite hangouts wud be Ontoes (juhu), Hawaiin Shack (Bandra), Toto's(Bandra), Merlyns(Sahar Airport.....and only with my gat and bathroom singers). These places have the best music ive heard by far!!An hour spent at any 1 of these anytime ... trims down the crap in your life!!!
Especially with friends...your in a different realm altogether!!! There need not be a conversation all the time..presence will do!!!! and even though all have different tastes in music... all move in sync at any song...

Thats the beauty of a pub....Its for all kinds of moods!! If u had a screwed up day... then bitch about it, BOTTOMS UP and chuck it aside!!!! if u had an awesome day... then simply CELEBRATE it!!! So its just not the drink... its the music... the company ... the ambience...the experience ..which adds to the high!!!

MORAL OF THE STORY: TAKE A BREAK...Catch up with Life!!! Stop existing and Start Living...

Nagesh nails it again!!!!

At the outset..lemme make it crystal clear... im not the typical commercial flamboyant movie buff....well unless it has spectacular reviews( Munnabhai et all..). So read ahead at ur own riks ;)

Many opine...that time spent at the movies should be relaxing...one place where u can afford to leave ur brains at home!! True ...very true...thats how apna Karan (tht Johar re!!) makes his moolah!!! factually...u dont need brains to see the movie...but u require enuff to recollect Manish Malhotra's designs when u visit the tailor next time!!!!

Essentially...Cinema is an art form...a media to express feelings...for the maker and the viewer!!! and GOOD Cinema is one which is logical, realistic, where actors dont have to act but are the characters themselves!!! and to judge this...u cannot afford to leave ur brains at home unless advised to do so!!! so Parallel cinema is my pick anytime!!!

and ive already developed a freakin crush on Nagesh Kukunoor ...since Hyderabad Blues!!! the reason he is my subject today is... well simple... i just saw DOR!!!!

and the fella has maintained his quality...infact...i think its getting better ...movie after movie!!!
1)his themes are more mature(sadly...its inversely proprtional to the the number of nasty jokes in the movie....SHUCCKS)
2)his locations are lil more scattered...
3)his actors now belong to the filmy fraternity... but unrecognisable( Ayesha Takia...GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME!!)))...
4)Nagesh himself was in a sorta perverto negative role.

But all Nagesh fan's should know the only constant factor in his movies.....

tht wud be...His producer..Elahe Hiptoola( no guest appearance in Dor)...its great to see the pair are still working together(n i so HOPE ..they are JUST WORKING...remember--> my CRUSH!!!)

In a nut shell....its a MUST-SEE...well-MADE movie...mix of everything you would look for in a fat-free,zilch masala movie! After all....its not ALWAYS about LOOOOOOOOOVVVEE!!!
